Using the Search Tools
Within the site you have a choice of two search tools that behave quite differently:
Sitewide Keyword Search
If you want to search the entire site use the Sitewide Keyword Search at the top left side of all pages. Enter a keyword and press "search".
Following are some Keyword search guidelines to assist if you are having difficulty with your search:

AND Searches for documents that have both words in it

OR Searches for documents that has either word in it
- , A comma can be used instead of OR
-
NOT Eliminates documents where the word is found
- (Parentheses) Determines how ANDs and ORs are treated. Words within parentheses are considered a unit and are considered first
- "Quotation Marks" searched for literally, Useful when you want to search for the actual words and or or

Case sensitivity default. A search automatically becomes case sensitive whenever the characters provided are of mixed case. A search for fishing or for FISHING finds fishing, Fishing, or FISHING, but a search for Fishing only finds Fishing not fishing or FISHING.
Section Search Boxes
When you are in the sections such as Accommodation, Transport, Destinations and Getting to New Zealand, you can search within the section you are currently in.
If you are in an area such as Events within Sights and Activities the search box is limited to searching this sections by keyword and region.
If you are in an area such as Accommodation the search boxes offer the opportunity to search Accommodation (by keyword, price and region). The search results while appearing randomly, can also be sorted by name, Qualmark Rating, Region and Price.
Advanced Search Option within Search Boxes
The Advanced Search allows you specify and refine your search criteria within your initial Search Box.
For example, if you have made a search in the Accommodation section for ‘Backpackers’, you will now have the option to narrow your search again to search Backpackers by keyword, price and region. These results list and you now have the opportunity to ‘Search Again’ using ‘these results’ or ‘the entire site’.
Accommodation, Transport and Activities are divided into Categories, such as Transport ‘air shuttle’ and the information about these categories and the listings within these categories can be viewed by clicking on the individual category name.
Search Results
Your search results are listed by:
Page Title or Operator Name and include a ‘icon’ which will help you identify which section the search result comes from. You can:

Click on the Title or Name to view specific results
- Click on Category to see introduction to this area
- Click on Region to view to see more information about this region

View by Region breaks the listing down by region
-
View by Category breaks the listing down by category
Each listing indicates how many results have been returned and these results are listed randomly with 10 per page.
You can view more or previous results using this navigation at the bottom of each page.
For help on specific areas of the site, select a topic from the list on the right. To find a specific piece of information in the site, use the search function or the site map.
